Fish Curry-Mauritian style

 

Serving: 6 persons

Ingredients:



6 pieces: Fried Fish
1/2 onions-chopped
1 tomato-cut into cubes
4-5 curry leaves
1/2 table spoon ginger and garlic paste
2 table spoon curry powder (masala)
1 little tamarind ball
2 cups of water
1 garlic flake
Salt to taste
2 table spoon oil for cooking
Coriander leaves finely chopped

Steps

For the Gravy
Heat oil in a pan on medium flame
Add onions-let fry for 1-2 minutes
Add curry leaves, ginger and garlic paste, glove of garlic
Stir for few seconds until golden
Add 2 table spoon of curry powder
Mix well-let fry a little with other ingredients for 3-5 minutes
Add two cups of water let for 10 minutes on slow flame


After 10 minutes add fried fish and salt to taste
Mix well with the gravy while stirring
Leave to cook for 7 minutes approximately on slow flame
Add tamarind ball and tomato, mix well and leave to cook for another 5 minutes
Turn down the flame, add coriander leaves

 Note: if you like lot of gravy add 1/2 cup more while adding tomato and tamarind.

Serve hot with rice, farata, bread.....................
